Since 2023, the City of Verden an der Aller has been offering its residents a free public cargo bike sharing service with 10 electric cargo bikes, supported by 12DRIVE. The 10 bikes are stored in individual charging boxes at 10 locations and can be booked via the 12DRIVE+ app. Each bike can only be checked in and out at its designated location.
User registration is implemented with two-factor authentication. After registering via the app, users are verified by post. Users can conveniently open the bike boxes and locks via the app and rent a cargo bike. With this bike project, the city enables its residents to leave their cars at home more often and choose a cargo bike for smaller transport needs instead.
The services provided by 12DRIVE include the development of the app, the provision of cargo bikes and bike boxes with charging stations and access systems, as well as maintenance and service.
